We must continue to preach the cross.  It is one of the most important aspects of our Christian life.  We are reminded of the cross when we read the Bible.  We are reminded of the cross when we sing hymns.  We are reminded of the cross when we preach the gospel, the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Without the cross we could not be saved.

The cross is where we:

We die to our sins – Rom 6:6-7 – when you are crucified with Christ you are dead and he that is dead is freed from sin.

We die to the world – Gal 6:14 and where the world dies to us – the world loses its grip on us when we are crucified with Christ and we lose our interest in the world – our affections get set on things above.

We die to ourselves – Gal 2:20 – Bob Jones, Sr. said, “No doubt the trouble is with you” – on the cross with Christ, you die to your ambition, your lust, your demands, your pride, your reputation, your attitude, your opinion, your selfishness, your self-will, your thoughts, your imaginations and whatever else keeps you from the full knowledge and love of Jesus Christ.

Conclusion: The cross is an unpopular doctrine in the Bible but it is one of the most essential – take your place with Christ on the cross – that’s where he triumphed over Satan and that’s where you and I can live victoriously.
